Sheikh Wissam El Tom

Wissam El- Tom has a Master's degree in Islamic Studies from Makasid University in Lebanon, in addition to his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
He has the highest certificates in Qur'an Qiraa'at (all 10 ways of reading Qur'an in the original Arabic language with melodies and phonetics) and Quran studies from the Institute of Qur’an Qiraa’at at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif in Egypt.  He has the "Sanad" (ijazah) -linked to the Prophet (sallallahualayhiwasallam in ten Qiraa'at sugra and kubra from the leading scholars in Egypt of this field internationally.  He was the winner of the International Quran Recitation and Memorization Competition held amongst 125 countries which was organized by Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and the Awkaf Ministry in Egypt.
He has authored many books in the ten Qiraa’at of Quran, and has also composed a poem in the original Arabic language comprising of 1175 verses on an area of Quranic studies.  He speaks three languages - English, French and Arabic.
Wissam El- Tom lives in Montreal, Canada where he has been an Imam for several mosques and is the director of the Attibyan Institute for ten Qiraa’at and Quran studies. He is also working towards gaining a Ph.D in Islamic Studies.
