POLICY OF BAIS ARABIC COURSES REQUIREMENT

Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to define the Arabic courses requirement in the undergraduate programs, the Intensive Arabic Program and the Higher Diploma program at the Islamic Online University.

Policy Statement

The Arabic courses requirement of the BA in Islamic Studies program at the Islamic Online University is as follows, ARB Grammar I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII and VIII (total 8 courses; 24 credit hours) are compulsory courses with effect from December 07, 2015. The courses are to be offered in a linear fashion where a lower level course must be completed before moving onto the immediate higher level course.

  2. ARB Grammar II
  3. ARB Grammar III
  4. ARB Grammar IV
  5. ARB Grammar V
  6. ARB Grammar VI
  7. ARB Grammar VII
  8. ARB Grammar VIII

The Arabic courses requirement of the other undergraduate programs and the Bridge Diploma to MAIS program will follow the same linear fashion as applicable.

ARB 100 is an optional and non-credit bearing course with effect from December 07, 2015; the course will remain especially helpful for those who do not know how to read and write in Arabic. Such students may begin with this course before enrolling into ARB Grammar I.

Accelerated Study Plan

The students in the accelerated study plan who request for it, may be allowed to enroll into two Arabic courses simultaneously.

Fees Structure and Enrollment Procedure
  1. Course fee of ARB 100 will be applicable according to the sliding scale below for all undergraduate programs and the Bridge Diploma to MAIS (higher diploma) program, separate from the regular semester fees:

    1. Very High Human Development Country : $25
    2. High Human Development Country : $20
    3. Medium Human Development Country : $15
    4. Low Human Development Country : $10
  2. Course fee of ARB 100 for the Intensive Arabic Program will be according to the sliding scale below, separate from the regular semester fees:

    1. Very High Human Development Country : $75
    2. High Human Development Country : $50
    3. Medium Human Development Country : $40
    4. Low Human Development Country : $30
  3. The payment of ARB 100 course for BA in Islamic Studies program contains the flexibility such that a student may pay the amount any time before entering the last semester of studies when they enroll in ARB 402 course.
  4. Similarly the payment of ARB 100 course for the other undergraduate programs contains the flexibility such that a student may pay the amount any time before entering the last semester of studies when they enroll in the final Arabic course of the required curriculum.
Benefits of the Policy
  1. This policy will allow the students to study Arabic in an organized and sequential manner, allowing them to reap maximum benefit of the courses and the curriculum design.
  2. This policy will also be helpful for the students who do not know how to read and write Arabic script, where they will have the opportunity to begin with a non-credit bearing course for a nominal fee.
